Remedial instrutions to install vid card please

Hi All, I'm editting this post as I think I need to get down to remedial instructions on how to install this new video card.

I'm running Windows 8 on my pc using an Asus M2A-VM motherboard. I was using the onboard video card which uses the ati 1250 drivers that I finally got to work with Windows 8.

I'm trying to install an Asus HD5450 card but Win8 will not boot with it installed. It will get to the black screen with the blue windows logo and the black spinning dots but will hang there. Also can't get into a safe boot with the card installed (shift & F8)

I've tried the following steps so far:
1. Uninstalled the 1250 driver which leaves the Generic driver, shut down the machine and installed the Card. Win8 doesn't boot.
2. Tried to install the CCC driver for the 5450 before installing the card. Windows says it already has the proper driver.
3. Installed card with the 1250 driver. Win8 won't boot.
4. Checked bios with card installed, shows PCIEx as primary display adapter.

Am I missing a step somewhere? I've never had so much problems installing a video card before but this has got me beat.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Maasai,

how did you get the ATI 1250 drivers to work?
It says ATI X1200 for me.
And most annoying OpenGL/WebGL is not working....

Could you give me a hint?

Thanks

Hi, which driver did you install ? you have to look for a driver that has "Legacy" in it's name. This driver: "amd_catalyst_13.4_legacy_beta_vista_win7_win8.exe" was the last driver I used for older GPUs.

Hi,

thanks for the info.
I just tried 13-9-legacy_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc, but this one is not supporting my motherboard graphics x1250 :-(

The only one that works for me so far is 10-02_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc (gfx detected as x1200), but I do not get WebGL support in Chrome with this. Also, Apshalt 8 has nasty graphics issues (cars are displayed heavily corrupted).

If you have any clue how I could get 13_4_legacy, I'd really appreciate. All links I found were blocked by AMD as they do not accept being linked from external :-(

Thanks
Marcus
