Hello
Of my 20 programs , 6 have to do with NVidia. Please take a look at my attachment and see if there is any baggage I can shed regarding NVidia.
I don't use the NVidia control panel, have p n p monitor so only need what is necessary.
Thank you
Peter

I keep the Graphics driver and the PhysX driver. If you never play any PhysX games, or run graphics benchmarks that use PhysX, you could lose the PhysX drivers without regret.

If you don't have a 3D monitor, the 3D stuff is useless. If you don't have a monitor interface that carries digital sound (HDMI and maybe DisplayPort), you don't need the HD sound drivers. I'm not quite sure what the NVidia Update package is, but I'm certain that you don't need it.

I wonder why all that stuff is installed by default. 3D monitors seem to be rare, in particular.

Thank you for helping me sort things out. I visited the site and some wizard guided me through per my system.

If I create a restore point, remove some entries then have trouble, would I be able to see to restore? Would the changes be restored or does system restore only apply to Windows entries?

I'm not sure about using System Restore with drivers.

You don't need to worry about it. You could uninstall all the drivers, and you'd be back in Microsoft's generic VGA drivers. That's more than enough to allow you to re-install the NVidia drivers. (Get the latest from www.nvidia.com.) If you install the drivers from scratch, make sure to use the Custom install, and uncheck everything but the basic drivers (and PhysX, if you need that).

Hi bobkn
I'll give it a try. The fewer programs in Win 8 the better.
