    Bootscreen resolution wrong for 1280x1024

I am getting a wrong ("compacted") resolution for a 1280x1024 monitor when booting.

    Anyway to repair that?

    Thanks.

Which screen? BIOS Post, Windows start, Lock screen, logon screen, Metro, desktop or all of the above?

Sorry, I took it for granted then "booting" would come off as "the boot screen" (as in the post title). So, boot screen. The black screen with the blue Windows 8 logo and the spinning circle of white dots

And my graphics drivers have just been updated today, thank you

Mind you, the Screen Resolution cmdlet even recognized my monitor models accurately.

I wasn't 100% sure so I just wanted some clarification on it. Is your monitor 1280x1024? I'm thinking that the Windows boot screen might be a low resolution screen, maybe 800 x 600. Once you get into Windows set your resolution to 800 x 600 and see if the image looks compacted. If it does you'll likely have to play with your monitor settings until its full screen. Then switch back to 1280 x 1024, reboot, and see what the boot screen looks like now.

Apologies but perhaps I'm missing the point: change my resolution to 800x600, then back to 1280x1024, then "switch back" to 1280x1024 again?

Change to 800 x 600 and see what your screen looks like. If it's picture framed you may have to adjust your monitor to make it full screen. Once you do that, switch back to 1280 x 1024 and reboot. Then see what your boot screen looks like.

I see! Get the monitor to remember the settings for that resolution! Clever Let's see if that works...

Unfortunately it's impossible to do that - my monitor doesn't have such controls

That's the plan, to be honest its just an educated guess at this point.

I guess that's because of adopting bootscreen for wide monitors.
So, our old 5:4 (1280*1024) screens are to stretch boot logo in vertical.

Is there any bootscreen resolution patch?
