Crossfire Q?

I currently have an Msi r6970 lightning. I want to get another for crossfire. I can get the reference amd brand card for alot cheaper than another msi though.
Can these be used together in xfire?
I've only ever messed with dual gpu setup once with two pny gtx 550 ti's. Never tried mixing brands/speeds.

Should be no problem.

AMD CrossFire

Dangerous advice follows: it may be possible to flash both cards with the same firmware, so that the drivers would see them as identical.
