Hello to all. Newbie here. I recently installed a fresh new windows 8 Pro onto a a samsung ssd. Everything is going great except....

I have a 25" HP monitor. The image I have leaves about an inch of unused monitor on the left and right sides and about a half inch on top and bottom. I've tried messing with all the settings and can't seem to find the solution. Can someone out there help me with this problem?

I thank all in advance!

Hello Renerator, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Do you have the latest video drivers installed?

Double check that you have the correct native screen resolution and refresh rate set for the monitor in your display settings.

In addition, how is the monitor connected to the graphics card? For example DVI (card) to HDMI (monitor).
You might try a different connection type on the monitor to see if it may work better.

Hope this helps for now, :)
Shawn

Hi Shawn. Thanks for such a quick response. I checked to see if the driver was up to date and it is. I checked the display settings and all seem correct. I have my monitor connected by HDMI into my video card. I had the same set up before my ssd drive crashed on me. I was getting a full screen before I encountered the problem I've described.

If you can think of anything else, please let me know.

Thanks.

Are you able to connect to the monitor using a different type of connection for now? Say a DVI connection.

This happens to me every once in a blue moon using a Display Port connection, and I have to unplug it, connect say via DVI instead, connect the Display Port back, switch input on monitor settings to use the Display Port again, then disconnect DVI.
