    Wrong graphics card

I had posted this question on another forum but recieved no response, so here it guys, all help would be appreciated...

    "It's more of a doubt than a question... I recently bought a Samsung with 6 GB RAM, i7 3630qm, and a Radeon HD 7670M

Everything was ok, I noticed it being really good at rendering animation, since I work with blender (far better than my 3/4 year old desktop, which has a core 2 duo processor, 2 GB RAM and a 512 MB dedicated Graphics card)

But when I play Assassin's Creed 3 the difference doesn't show much... It's just slightly better (in terms of lagging or dragging the image) if not as good as my old PC... What I think is that this has something to do with this Intel HD Graphics, because when I used the "Can You Run It" tool it identified my graphics card as being this Itel HD Graphics thing....

Is it possible that when I'm playing games they are not using the right graphics card? And if so, how can change this or test if it's my problem?"

It's highly possible that your game is running with the Intel HD. Open up your Catalyst Control Center and on the Power tab, select switchable graphics then browse your Assassin's Creed 3 .exe file and set it to "High Performance" in order to run it with the AMD Card.

I'm trying to access that menu and I'm not being able, the window of the Catalyst Control Center just disappears

Sounds like your AMD Catalyst driver is corrupted. Go to Samsung support website and download the latest Catalyst drivers for your laptop. Uninstall Catalyst first then install the driver that you just downloaded. Do a restart after installation and check to see if you can access the menu. Hope it goes well.

    bernardosgr,
BTW, you can really bump up the performance of your desktop PC by using a dedicated video card, if your PC has the slot for it. The 3 best ways I've seen to improve a PC's overall performance is to:

    1. Use a SSD instead of a hard drive as a Windows boot drive
    2. Use a dedicated video card and disable the onboard video in the BIOS
    3. Install the maximum amount of RAM your motherboard will support

My machine also has dual graphics, but mine is an Intel/Nvidia combo. There is a setting in the Nvidia Control Panel that allows you to force the use of the GeForce instead of the Intel. Your ATI control panel will probably have a similar setting. I switch back to the Intel when I'm running on the battery, to save power.

Re 'Can You Run It', it is a guide only, and is not gospel. For example, it told me that no WAY could my Core2 Duo/3GB/Intel 4500 laptop run 'STALKER - Call of Pripyat'. But it does. With ease.

Edit: Just saw TheVeteran's post, with pic. That's what I had in mind.
