I have installed Windows 8 Enterprise on an MSI CX640 and it is currently working with a closed lid while connected to a monitor which runs at a native resolution of 1680x1050 using a VGA cable and everything is sooooo disgustingly blurry.

Keep in mind that I had used this monitor as a display for my desktop PC with DVI and an NVIDIA graphics card and everything was crystal clear so it's defenitily not the monitor. I have optimized the ClearType text, turned off the second display and still it looks disgusting...

VGA is an analog connection, and can be blurry. ClearType won't help because ClearType only works properly with digital sources. In fact, it might even make it worse.

I'd suggest getting an HDMI to DVI adapater and using that instead.

Have you verified that the display is actually running at 1680X1050?

Resolved by changing the VGA cable to another one.
