    Screen underscan (Win8+ATI Radeon 5000)

    Hi,

Today I installed windows 8 and attached my external monitor into the computer using a HDMI cable. I have a Dell inspiron n5010 (graphics card: ATI Radeon 5000)

I have spent literally all day trying to get the drivers to work so that I can open CCC to modify the scaling of the monitor. I have had no luck of launching the CCC. I have followed many procedures from different websites/forums and had no luck. I've tried using CCleaner, multiple fresh installs of the OS and even drivers directly from Dell (their website and a CD I got with the laptop)

Any ideas how to fix it?

    Thanks heaps.

CCC install ok but won't open? Have you checked event viewer for the error? Try and launch CCC then go to Control panel --> administrative tools --> event viewer. Check the logs for recent errors to see if there are related. it will most likely be in application.

    I didn't see any errors.
    I've tried again, this is what I did;
    1) Fresh install of Win8 Pro
    2) Ran this; Driver Details | Dell United States
    3) Went to; C:\dell\drivers\R272410
    4) Located the CCC installer and ran it
    5) Rebooted computer
    6) Opened CCC from the Desktop
    7) Windows says .NET framework 3.5 needs to be installed - allowed the installation.
    8) Opened CCC again and nothing happens.
When using the suite from AMD, I couldn't find CCC at all, that is why I used the Dell package.
    Event viewer showed nothing serious

I assume you're using Win8 x64, here is the link for the catalyst drivers. Try this instead of the dell driver.

Still no luck. I reinstalled Windows so there was absolutely nothing else installed. I downloaded and ran the Catalyst Software Suite from that link. I ran the CCC-Utility64 installation and still nothing (I found the utility by searching for 'CCC' in C:/AMD/).

    And yes, 64bit system.

The download is a self extracting, but will automatically run the installer it extracts. Maybe you're running the wrong one from the folder. Try just running the catalyst installer without manually going to the folder, open the file you download and let it run it's course.

Make sure you are downloading CCC from the link I proved.
    AMD Catalyst

After that run the file normally, do not try and extract it yourself just let the self extractor do its thing.

It should look like this ...

    While it is extracting.

It will automatically run the catalyst installer when it is finished installing. You do not need to manually run it from the folder.

CCC isn't recognizing your video card. Make sure you are installed the driver for your card, not just CCC.

I just checked in Device Manager and it said it has the most up-to-date drivers installed. Where can I get drivers that wont install CCC as well?
    AMD Catalyst
I can't use anything from there b/c CCC will be installed with it.
