Graphics Card not Compatible with W8 | Please Advise/Help

Graphics Card.jpg

Hello,

Scenario

I upgraded to Windows 8 couple of days back, everything was fine and all Windows apps were working fine. After about 48 hours, some apps would not open. I did a lot of searching but did not find any solution. I managed to call MS support, the guy gave me a file to detect errors. The error it displayed was Display drivers out of date, when I told this to the agent, he informed me that my hardware does not support the OS; I was shocked to hear this, I bought this i5 laptop just over a year ago and if this was not supported the windows 8 upgrade assistant was supposed to let me know before I shelled out $40 for this.

Question

I think I can find help here and hence asking, firstly I need help in finding out which card is installed on my laptop(that will help me search), any experts please view the screenshot and direct me to the right procedure/pre compiled drivers out here. I sincerely appreciate any help and after this trial I am popping in my vendor supplied Win 7 disk in my PC.

Thank you

I had apps failing and did a refresh on 29Oct ...was no big deal all is well
(failed; weather apps and a few others...including Outlook...I will not even open OL again anyway...Thunderbird does the job for me)

I said no big deal....but I am well backed up and it was inconvenient to set up Thunderbird again ( I have several email accounts) but the email went well too

The refresh may seem like over-kill...but it only took about an hour +...including Thunderbird

It might solve your Video issue...really don't know

Things are so new...hard to get good info....so be careful on who is advising...includes me too:think:

Thanks for the reply, The refresh can be done, for that it is asking for the media to be inserted, as I upgraded, I do not have the disc or ISO; however, this seems to be a common problem and many seem to have got it fixed, just can't figure out what the right combinations are...

You need the Disk or it will say files are missing or something similar

Maybe you can point it to a path on your C drive where your installed Win Pro?

I downloaded and burned an ISO...so I had a disk

There was even an option (when burning) to have a Win Pro disk mailed to you for $14 from MS$$$...but I burned my own

Maybe someone can advise you?

Up-graders should be able to refresh...you would think

But, you probably need a disk to refresh....to the best of my knowledge...sorry

Yes, you are right, I might get a disk from one of the torrents as I have genuine key, I might be able to just use it. I don't think in this instance a refresh will help as the problem is with the hardware and what I need is to get the drivers compatible with windows 8

Grab the iso and you should be fine. Most of the problems people are having with their install is due to using the upgrade option instead of clean install.

Not really a hardware issue necessarily...I think it might just be a driver issue....not hardware...but who knows?

The nice thing about Win 8 is it has a bunch of drivers and it auto install them for you

This is done @ initial install and during a refresh too

Not to say your card could not be bad....but I doubt it, if it worked for awhile....

I suspect Win 8 updates may have changed it later and it got corrupted during an update

The refresh can not hurt and the worst case ...get a new card

But, remember you said the apps etc were causing issues...that points to a corrupted Win 8 too
