Optional Update KB3000850

Got this optional update (KB3000850) today and no information yet.
It was 723.9 MB and took forever to install.

I will wait for the information to be posted before I update my Laptop.

UPDATE: MS just released the information. Its a Nov 2014 rollup so that is why it was so big.

Until it's done. No sense downloading 3/4 of a GB of data only to abort the installation.

Took my machine almost 2.5 hours to complete. Running windows update clean up now for the last 25 minutes and it's only 45% done.

Edit: It finally finished after about 1.5 hours, dang it. :thumb:

Is it possible to download this huge KB3000850 latest update to a USB drive, and install it on my Win 8.1 64bit laptop, plus on my Win 8.1 64-bit desktop?

Downloading it twice (i.e. for each machine) will seriously dent my monthly data allowance

As KB3000850 is a 'rollup' update, am I correct to assume that it contains ALL the patches released since the last 'rollup' update? I have applied all the important updates since I got my Windows 8.1 machine, so do I need to apply this one? Thanks.

Tried to install on Win 8.1x64 Desktop and Laptop, both failed, and no error message.

2919355 installed fine for me on both machines.
2975061 also installed, again without error.

May be restarting system and trying it again would do the trick. Keep antivirus and firewall disabled.

Like member 'Loving Windows' I too downloaded and installed this huge update and it crippled my PC. I had a hell of a job getting out of the mess caused and finished up using 'Refresh' with the resultant extra work that caused. I then had to download 70 updates of about 750Mg and now find the optional KB3000850 wants to download again.
Reference 'LyndonH' I also ask do I really need this one - I certainly don't want to risk going through the clean-up process again.
Advice much appreciated please.

Same issues:

I had to uninstall this update after installing it, it crippled my system performance and everything was slower after installing it. Gaming FPS was nearly chopped in half and every one of my games ran so slow.

Uninstalled and everything is back to normal now.

I had same issues and more. IE11 would not work properly and Windows Explorer would freeze - lots of generally strange behaviours. All back to normal. When I get a chance I'll see what's in the update in detail and decide if I need it.

Came here to find information about the update. I just registered in this forum to tell you my experience.
This update just caused problems to two PC's, a desktop and a laptop, both running Windows 8.1 64bit.
Both would never shut down or restart.
Both were very slow in opening the action center, the computer properties etc.
It took me a long time to uninstall this update on both, one of the reasons was the computers could not restart (as stated earlier) to complete the uninstall.
Anyway, i managed to uninstall it and everything is normal now.

TL;DR? Do NOT install this update now.

That's whole lot of negative feedbacks for an update in a short time in this forum compared to august patches previously. Guess something is wrong this time :(

I didn't have any problem this time though.

Not really, Visruth. A majority here complained on length of time it took, but installed correctly. Add me in without a problem and the system runs fine. I had a security and a Defender one that I installed and rebooted first, then did the optional one. Download and install was about an hour.

Tried to find a common denominator for those that did have a problem, but they didn't fill in all of their system specs in their profiles. Please do. Thanks. :)

This Update fixed quite a bit, mostly for pros: November 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2

This update will not install on my desktop running Windows 8.1 64bit gets to point it needs to reboot reboots gets to 8% updating Windows and decides to reboot itself again. Failed message on the second reboot and more by luck than management removes the failed update and boots.

Tried it a number of times via Windows update and by downloading the full package.

In update history I've now got 1 x Failed and 3 x Succeeded showing and it's nowhere to be seen in Installed Updates.

I've run the usual sfc /scannow and dism stuff but it doesn't find anything corrupted.

Another Microsoft balls up methinks and another KB to hide until they sort this mess out.

Yes, if all of them fill up their specs fully , it could help others understand what caused their issue I think.

In the new improvements I could see support for newer hardware - sd card , boot order allowance, USB debugging .

In fixed issues, Bluetooth reconnectivity issue , no safely remove hardware and eject media icon in tray, onedrive issues, A3 paper printing issue, unplayable MOV files are the ones benefiting the home user.

I didn't notice any of those issues in mine . May be they are issues involving majority of 8.1 users.

I guess what are the sd card & boot order allowance all about?
