Solved Custom Cursors

Aero8-Yellow (L)

The large version of the Yellow pointer is also available.

This can also be referred to as the medium size version.

For other info, check the XL version's post, same specs.

Install.inf (right-click-install) is installing the cursor scheme with the name "Aero8-Yellow (large)". Select to use in Cursor properties.

Cursors are found in the attached zip below.

Win8Spinner Yellow (L)

Here is the alternate spinner for the L (large) version of the yellow pointers from previous post.

The same busy state size as provided with the XL version is available.

EDIT: changed name of the working state file (was called busy).

Aero8-Yellow

And finally, the normal-sized version of the yellow pointer.

aero8-yellow-prev.png

For normal dpi on 32px it actually gets rendered like this:

prev-n32.png

Install.inf installs the cursor scheme named "Aero8-Yellow".
Tested and currently using this.

Get the cursors from the attached zip.

Win8Spinner Yellow

The normal version of the yellow spinner is ready!
:dinesh:
This matches the cursor scheme released above.

aero8yellow-n.gif

This means the yellow scheme is now complete. It matches all Windows 8 default pointers and is available in XL, L and normal sizes, each in normal DPI or higher (up to 200%). Among the additions (precision select and text cursors), the 'Win8Spinner' (in this post + L & XL) can replace the standard spinner.* All optional of course. :)

Well, it took a while to finish the yellow Win8Aero cursors.
I'm glad this one is done.

To summarize it all, this is what was made in multiple releases:

aero8-yellow-all-installed.png

(don't ask how many layers there are in total)

OK what about other colors?
This means that the same amount of work would take to release a red or any other color but I'm not gonna do it for now.

Next up is bringing the Aero spinner for Win7, remastered in 64x64, after that I'll try coming up with an own design again. :)

Enjoy using the yellow version as it's one of the few (among the default one installed) certified cursor schemes for Windows 8.
Try the cursor especially if you use higher DPI (up to 200%) and if you like yellow (...and red).

Until next time,

Cheers!

Help me!!

Harder to do than so far...
Just started to work on this level, I've made two files for the Delta45 - Neon-Orange2 theme.

The ANI-files include the theme's 4 layers 96x96, 64x64, 48x48 and 32x32. ready for the higher DPI just as mentioned in the Delta45 theme.

Both files included in zip. Manual installation required.

You can made two files like it for the "Delta45-Neon-Blue2" "Delta45-Neon-Purple" "Delta45-Neon-Green" thanks you very much!!

Thanks!
Basically you need to start simple using the Real World Cursor Editor program.

That's right on the money! :thumb:

Check the link out for sure!!

Read the user manual for all advanced topics.

You'll need to understand what an animation is and how to achieve animation through multiple individual frames or one whole sequence. Static cursors don't have animations so they are a good starting point in making cursors, for animations it's like combining multiple static images in a sequence and together you'll get an animation.

First off: create your design in Paint, Photoshop,..., any image program you like... or draw the cursors directly in the cursor editor, you decide.

Here's some basic info on how to get to work in creating the animated cursor.
In addition of the design images, you create a new animated cursor, select the template "32, 48 - Win7" or alter it to remove or add other layer sizes. 32x32 and 48x48 are the layer sizes (mentioned with 32, 48). below I go up to 96x96:

rw-c-ed-d45-g-demo.png

You'll notice in the bottom of the screenshot that you'll need to create multiple frames: you'll start with one which can be selected and copy-pasted until you get the desired number.
Select each frame and drag'n'drop the resized (png) image of your cursor design, this for each resolution layer; beginning from 96x96 to 32x32 or the other way around is not important, just fill all frames. Save your file (ani) regularly. You'll need to select each required layer in the right side of the screen before you insert the image.

Notice in the center of the image: a round green dot: that's the hotspot, aka the cursor's center point.
ATTENTION: The hotspot is what clicks buttons, scrollbars, etc. If you forget to set the hotspot it will be set on the top-left corner, making the cursor misplaced when used: you'll click buttons with a pointer that's not on top of the button. Set the hotspot correctly. For spinners, like in the screenshot: is usually centred, for pointers: it will be the top of the arrow.

The Delta45 cursor has 12 frames so eventually you'll get something similar done.
Windows Aero cursor has 18 frames so it will require a bit more work.
Aero8spinner like the one I posted here 64yw.gifhas 54 frames as a bare minimum in order to create the animation, so there's some serious layer work to do.
Start with an easier one, small and simple... 3 frames?, 10 frames?... If it runs/spins, you're on the right track. :D

You can also load a sequence, where each frame is side by side in one image, and create the cursor in one blow:
an example: seq.png

If you don't feel very creative at the moment or would like to see some nice animated examples:
See Preloaders.net - AJAX loading GIF and APNG spinners, bars and 3D animations generator for some interesting loaders, create your sequence/frames and make your cursors from it.

Images...
Frames, frames, frames...

That's all there is to it.

Cheers!

Hi! Could you please make a black version av the Aero8 cursors, with white borders and red busy and working wheels?
Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I'll try to do one of those when I get some time.

Made a quick sketch:
Is this what you mean by black & red?

Here it is:

This has the same specs as the white one. No big changes.

The working state is what you need in black (see attachment).
The busy state is the same, already posted red wheel from the white one.
