Local and Microsoft account name problem

Hi

I installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 Enterprise 64-bit.

I created a local account and I changed the name displayed in the Start screen.

Then, by this account, I performed the procedure to switch to a Microsoft account.

I noticed that when, by this Microsoft account, I perform the procedure to switch back to the local account, the name displayed on the logon screen, it is to be returned to the original one (ie, the one of the directory of the local user profile). How come?

So, how do I make sure that, at the end of these procedures, the account name back to being what had been changed by me?

Thanks

Bye

Hello Balubeto,

Whenever you change the user name, the original name is still tied to the account along with the new name(s). Usually it's best to create a new local account with the user name you want to have it displayed properly everywhere.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

So in other words, you advise me to create two accounts (one local and the other Microsoft) for every user on a LAN. Right? Is there a way to prevent this?

By chance, is there a way to block the full name of a local user, or rather, is there a way to make sure that, when I do the switch from Microsoft to local account, Windows still uses all local account information of starting avoiding, in this manner, the creation of another local account?

Thanks

No, not at all. I was just saying to start over with a new local account with the name you wanted for it instead so it's "C:\Users\(user-name)" folder would be the same.

Was there a reason why you need to switch an account back and forth between local and a Microsoft account?

A Microsoft account can also do everything a local account can.

A curiosity: If a computer only has Microsoft account and, at that time, it does not have an internet connection available, as do users access to computer resources because they can not do their Login?

Yep, a Microsoft account will still be able to sign to Windows without an internet connection. It just won't be able to open or use anything (ex: Store) else that requires an internet connection.

So, in this case, what is his local profile?

Thanks
