Windows 8.1 Update 1 ISOs Also Coming

- The documentation shows that ISOs are also prepared for the April launch
Windows 8.1 Update 1 is almost here, but Microsoft has done a terrific job keeping official details secret, even though we still got our hands on leaked copies of the new product.

And still, even though Microsoft has refused to provide too many details on what’s to come in Windows 8.1 Update 1, Twitter user BAV0 has come across some new documentation on the update that seems to suggest that full ISOs are also being prepared.

Hi there
I downloaded mine last night (Fri night / sat morning) around 00.45 local time -- had no probs.
However these are the sort of occasions Ms perhaps should use bit torrent method of download -- saves load off the servers and can be faster too.

Plenty of use for LEGAL torrents -- a lot of OFFICIAL LINUX distros are distributed via bit torrent.

Cheers
jimbo

That only works if people don't do a grab and run. Some would stick around and seed for a while but most probably wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, I still think its a good idea. Those with a slow connection or one that gets interruptions would still have a good chance of getting a clean uncorrupted download. It may take a while but at least they'd complete the download.

I'd rather it didn't hide, or at lest have an option to turn off the auto hide.

Lots of good info, guys. Thanks for posting it. :thumb:

My question > Is there any option to turn it completely off on the Start Screen?

There must be a way to turn it off. The taskbar on my start screen stopped popping up. I don't know if it was a change I made or something in Classic shell.

Well done, that actually turns off the upper and lower bars for Metro Apps. A lot of forum members will be glad to hear that.:thumb:

EDIT: I noticed already pinned Store Apps stay pined, they did on my main taskbar anyway. So you may have to unpin some Store Apps too, if you don't want them. Mine still work when clicked too.

EDIT: Looks like I lied, the upper tool bar for Metro Apps is working again. I could have sworn it stopped working when I did the uncheck show Windows Store app on the task bar.

I think it just eliminates the minimize button.

Does the close button in the upper app toolbar actually close apps for anyone? I use it then open task manager to find them all sitting there eating up a ton of memory. I've actually come around to using a few apps, but the dragging them to the bottom of the page and waiting for them to flip to really close them is annoying.

I think they only go into a suspend mode with the close button. If I close my Slacker Radio app with the X and then open it again latter, it picks up right where it was when I closed it. Mid song sometimes. If I drag it down and let it flip, it will start up with a new playlist when opened again.

Ah, so the minimize and close buttons do the same thing basically. MS engineering at it's finest.

No, if I click the minimize button Slacker radio keeps running/playing. I can then hover over its Taskbar Icon and get pause, play, etc options with the thumb nail view. If I click the close button it stops playing and the taskbar Icon goes away.
