How do I make the taskbar 100% transparent while keeping the icons untouched?

Also, is there a way to remove the white thingy that is behind the icons on the taskbar when they are open?

Screenshot of what I want (actually it's a picture of Chrome OS, but it explains what I want) is attached.

Thanks! :)

With Aero disabled you can't adjust the taskbar transparency manually like in the past. I'd rather turn it off but can't. I have some themes that make the taskbar transparent and I'd rather it was a solid color. To fix it I have to modify each theme , but can't be bothered. I switch to new theme every month or so. To do what you want you'll likely have to install a third party theming program.

That's okay, as long as it does what I want.
Could you name some for me?

I have never used one so I don't have any recommendations in mind. I'd do a Google search or wait for another forum member to recommend something.

I don't have aero installed. Maybe not 100%, as you wish, but this is what I have at maximum transparency?

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.
Well, Aero isn't the actual problem, I want to see NOTHING of the taskbar, except for the icons. In other words, I want the taskbar REMOVED and the icons kept in place. Just like how it is in the attached picture.

How about this one?

Taskbar Eliminator - Aviassin

Make Desktop shortcuts for those items which I see you have, t present, on the taskbar, then use the linked program?
For some reason, Taskbar Eliminator doesn't work for me, after some time the taskbar comes up again and pressing the hotkey every minute would be pointless.
And also, how would I get the clock, date, wireless, battery, volume and see running apps or open the notification area if I do that?
It's just not good.
