Oct 17 -- who's got it (W8.1) - Public release only

Ref my original post about the Logitech updater error after upgrading to 8.1.

I had a message that phoneman wanted to know what version of Logitech Setpoint that I had. I don't know, as I also uninstalled it. I'm going to install the latest version on this system as I installed the latest version on my other system and it has no problems (see below).

UPDATE on my second 8.1 system. It had the exact same problem after upgrading to 8.1. I don't know what version of Logitech Setpoint I had on that system but I did a manual update and that has taken care of the problem.

It didn't give me the option to create iso. Might be iso files will not be available for the upgrade. TechNet and MSDN have the Enterprise and VL.

If it doesn't appear for regular folk, the 8.1 rtm plus the 3 G.A. rollup updates are the same thing.

Or, if you are quick you can grab the installation files downloaded fromm the store before they disappear, they look like this:

Inside the $windows~bt directory are these fellas

2013-10-17_191655.jpg

Can make an iso from that easily. EDIT - not so easily after all. Even if you manage that - it will only accept 8.1 keys - not 8.0 keys. You might be able to put the install.esd in the sources folder of 8.1RTM iso. Haven't tried it yet. Not something the average user will want to endure.

That's nice to see this again, I did that with the Preview a while ago.
I could't get it to boot with those files but I didn't paid too much attention on possible solutions... it was already installed.

Would be nice to be able to make a bootable ISO out of that instead of downloading again for a clean install.

    That's basically it.
Make yourself a big pot of coffee because you'll have time to drink it all. It took about 1 1/2 hours for it to download and install completely.

Final Update. I manually downloaded and installed Setpoint 6.61 on my Win 8.1 system that originally had the problem and it has solved the problem.

For anyone that gets the error problem, download and install the latest version and see if that fixes it as it did for me.

I upgraded W8 PRO to 8.1 this afternoon and so far it works ok. A second machine W8 PRO + WMC is in the process of downloading at present. A third pc will get the upgrade tomorrow. They are all desktop 64 bit machines. I hope there will soon be an ISO to make a proper reinstallation DVD.

Well, my download got to about 50% in 30 minutes, but it's been stuck there for over 1.5 hours. This is frustrating.

If you're not seeing it in the store, you may have to reset it. Close the store, run wsreset.exe and try reopening the store.

Yeah, I don't see it in the store either on my computer. I have KB2871839 installed and have rebooted.

Why can't I find the update in the Store? - Microsoft Windows

Microsoft said:
4.In the list of available updates, select KB 2871839, and any other updates you want to install, then tap or click Install.

Hmmm...not working for me yet. I'm in Michigan in US.

I'm running Windows 8 Pro from OEM (Dell).

The install bits are in $Windows.~BT after you install, so you can copy that folder to a DVD and use it in subsequent installations, avoiding the download of 3.3 GB over and over again... you can't make a bootable disc out of it, but if you're updating an existing Win8 install, you don't really want to...
