Hi:

I keep loosing the date/time main screen area after the computer is idle for any extended period of time.

When I move the mouse to log back in I get the main screen, but no time/date on the left side and
I cannot log back in, no keys work.

I have to turn the power off and then re power up - then the time/date etc re appear and I can log in.

I already re freshed as instructed by Acer Tech support- but that didn't work.

I have a acer aspire laptop- 771-6865.

Any help is appreciated.

Make sure you don't have your keyboard option in device manager (power management tab) set to "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."

i think it more like its getting stuck in sleep or hibernate ,not just turning off the clock ,try turning all power saving option off in power option and see how it goes

After I get into device manager, where do I go to get to the power management tab?

I opened keyboard and I also scrolled down on view etc- cannot find power management tab.

* I'm not very computer savvy :(*

Thanks.

also ,on the power option, its set to turn off display in 10 minutes and sleep in 30 minutes.

Should I change it to much longer?

My fault... dummy me! You have a laptop so it won't be there. Sorry for steering you in the wrong direction. I got off on the wrong foot on this one so maybe Caperjack can step back in and help you. Very sorry.
Good luck.

Thanks for your time and help!

I'll see what I can do with the power options.

Thanks!

It's working fine now!

From display off after 15 minutes to desktop when I want to use the computer again- no main screen, just opens up at the desktop.
