Having a bit of a problem

Hey there,

Just new to the forums as I try and get Windows 8 working how I want it to...

My current issue though, is a game related one. A game called Runescape. When I go to load the client through the website I get an error screen.

That says:
Java Plug-in 10.9.2.05
Using JRE version 1.7.0_09-b05 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
User home directory = C:\Users\DJ D
----------------------------------------------------
c: clear console window
f: finalize objects on finalization queue
g: garbage collect
h: display this help message
l: dump classloader list
m: print memory usage
o: trigger logging
q: hide console
r: reload policy configuration
s: dump system and deployment properties
t: dump thread list
v: dump thread stack
x: clear classloader cache
0-5: set trace level to <n>
----------------------------------------------------

It will not load up, even after updating java to 10.9. and making sure everything else on my OS is updated. Any suggestions or help? This is extremely aggravating, especially when the client loaded this morning on Windows 7 and now it won't on Windows 8.

Thank you.

Hi
I would probably say that as it has just been released, internet explorer 10 probably doesn't have compatibility for some things yet,I know its annoying because it wont display my emails correctly. this will be updated as problems are found :)

That's what I figured. As always, for us users, we must wait while the programmers catch up. Even though you would think, as common sense dictates, that they would be anticipating this launch and change. Patient is a virtue haha.

So that's what people think...

The thing is: You can never anticipate these kind of changes. Programs are made by different companies and programmers (in this case, a good example). They don't know each other or what others do. Everyone minds his own business.:) There will always be problems and that's a good thing for this kind of business, It's bad for the users of course.

I've already heard a few problems with Runescape and Win8 so it seems there is something wrong with something. Don't know what for sure.
If that game runs in a browser try different browsers if IE10 is still not ready. The latest Java should be OK.
That's the only 'solution' I can think of for now.

Patient is a virtue haha.
Agreed.

Good luck

I must agree after that statement Hopachi. But, and tell me if I am wrong. Doesn't Microsoft own IE10? So shouldn't they have anticipated some run in, or issue with the java script interaction. Which is what it seems to be with launching the game. Also it is understandable that there are issues. Like any video game, or new technology, there are blips and burps in the systems that must be worked out. So yeah, I do understand whats going on.

Of course you're right. I have issues witn IE10 myself: wrong download speed estimation and so on.
We'll just have to wait for updates on this one.

Another thing: if you run 64bit Windows then you can give Waterfox (that is 64bit only) a go. This requires the x64 Java install package. Waterfox - The fastest 64-bit variant of Firefox on the web
So far never had a crash on an older i5 machine, just crashes on newer Ivy Bridge.

Cheers
Hopachi

try with Google Chrome

Yes. I run Chromium (same as Chrome but no automatic updates, be aware!) on Windows just for the show. So far stable for me. It has very good graphics acceleration.

Go with Google Chrome if the rest of browsers are unstable or not compatible.
