DOS Cmd run with admin rights if run from admin account?

I have two Windows VMs, one Windows 7 and the other Windows 8. On both machines there is an account with administrative rights. On the Windows 7 VM if I run a DOS cmd window it is run with with administrative rights. However, on the Windows 8 VM the DOS cmd window has NO administrative rights.

Has anything changed between Windiws 7 and 8 in this respect?

    Thanks

Hello ndean, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It's the same in Windows 8.

Elevated Command Prompt - Open in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks Brink.

I was using the Windows+R and typing 'cmd' to get the command window up.

However I solved the issue by reading another thread Tutorial: How to make Windows 8 understand you ARE the Administrator. After following this procedure command windows come up with Admin rights if they are launched from an account with admin rights.

That'll work, but remember using the method in the link in your post will break Store apps preventing them from being able to run until you undo it.
