Is anyone else a little surprised that no one has Windows 8 available for pre-order yet? Since MS is still more interested in physical media as opposed to downloadable, you'd think they'd want as many people getting their hands on it as soon as possible. I'd figure Amazon, NewEgg and other retailers would be taking pre-orders by now for day one delivery.

Hahahaha! That made me laugh so much I nearly fell off my chair :)

Well I did pre-order it with PC World (in the UK) who told me it was the "full version". But since placing that order Windows 8 has now vanished from the PC World website and now they just have a page where you can sign up for notifications

With the NewEgg coupon discounting it $10 I sprung for the OEM. The upgrade worries me because it sounds like if you ever want to do a fresh install you'll have to install Windows XP/Vista/7 first. For an extra $30 I get the reassurance I can do an easy fresh install.

This is correct, that's why I would recommend with any upgrade that immediately after installing it, you take the time to create a system image.
