Reworked networking stack that connects much faster than Windows 7, with impressively quick and more stable WiFi connectivity.

Less obtrusive handling of windows updates - usually you restart Windows 8 without knowing that there are updates installed and ready to configure. "Quieter" Action Center alerts to fewer issues than in Windows 7

Improved Explorer search ribbon makes up for deficit in Windows 7, and native mounting of VHD as well as ISO images. Improved facilities in utilities like DISM, that mean you don't have to download IMAGEX to work with Windows Image (WIM) files.

-Clean, usable PC Settings section. Provided Microsoft move the rest of the stuff there, it will be quite awesome.
-Clean, small and fast desktop theme. Works great under Remote Desktop. Now, if we could only have Aero as an option for local sessions and the light theme for RDC sessions or as a fallback theme when Aero needs to be off.
    -Real kernel. Finally.
-Fast boot up that will stay fast. That's a big pro for me.
    -Management of startup items. Finally.
-Improved Task Manager. Was about time.
-Standards for app quality and performance, even for the desktop. Hurts, but had to be done.
-Improved security. Almost great, if it wasn't for the fact 99% of it is dedicated to DRM instead of user protection.
-Improved RDC experience. I am literally jumping for joy, this thing flies under RDC and I use RDC all the time.

Basically, Windows 8 is very short of being a total success, if it wasn't for so much driver and software incompatibilities, and this forced Tablet-Desktop experience and split-personality, which is unforgivable, provided the fixes for this can be delivered with a simple Windows Update very fast if Microsoft decide to do so.
Wow... Those are the rosiest Rose Colored Glasses ever.

Virtually every one of those items is either a personal opinion (and somewhat of a rare one) or flat out false. Boot times? same as 7 (May be fast because of a clean install atm). Metro control panel NOT usable half the time, missing too many items. MS has had a "Real Kernel" for a LONG time. (In fact it seems like they may have actually screwed up the multitasking with the tweaks to the scheduling in Win8 so bleh on that) Win7 and even vista had management of startup items just like 8. Task Manager? Exactly the same functionality but somewhat prettier graphics...

    But enjoy... :/

Oddly enough, I don't use IE or even feel remotely inclined to try it at all. I use Chrome and rely heavily on the synchronized bookmark feature. That alone got me off from Firefox, which I used religiously for years.

FF has a synchronised Bookmark feature too (I don't use it).

Why should I have to download and upload multiple MB of data every time I want to use the Internet?
Not to mention that I don't trust that my encrypted info is actually safe from prying eyes.

Why can't they have a "local" version for multi-boot users?

Speaking of IE, IE 9 and obvious 10 whoop the poop out of chrome and FF in terms of malware protection. This does not suck at all.

Desktop IE has built in Flash, one less software to install. And it's faster and more secure, and FINALLY has built in spell check. Whoever decided to not have that already built in into IE....geez! Immersive IE is immersive. It has Flash support, but to an extent. It also is more secure as addons are disabled. Another thing that does not suck is SmartScreen in IE and Windows, overall everything is stupidly secure.
IE sucks. It's better than it used to be, but it still sucks. Also, flash through win update sucks because updates are slower than getting them directly from adobe. Remember how long that last flash update took? Also, smartscreen sucks. It just does. Phoning home about EVERYTHING you download? Nag screen for all non-MS approved software? Not something I want.
    It is noticeably faster indeed.

I think MS fixed the flash vulnerability in a timely manner considering first time factors. Built in addons only make sense for speed and security. Do you have a timeline of how quick Adobe fixes flaws? Or that they know they're present?

MS gives the option of turning SmartScreen off. It's OK if one wants to be vulnerable to spyware, viruses, and the like. I for one am glad they keep tract, for I don't have the time.

Yeah, I used to be a firefox user and tried their sync feature and at the time it was just not very good. While it worked, it was often delayed and slow to update. Seemed like Chrome was very fast.

I'm not entirely sure how much data it is, but I don't believe that my bookmarks, extensions, and settings amount to MB's of data each time I want to use the Internet. I believe it only syncs when there is a change, and at best I'd guess we are talking a few 100k.

Security is obviously a concern. You don't have to sync passwords, or even save passwords in your browser.

Probably because there aren't that many multi-boot users.

    IE No Go

IE doesn't have the customisation options I want and it doesn't have NoScript, so it's a no go for me.

My 7 Profiles use 631 MB of HDD space!
My smallest Profile is ~38 MB.
I have a total of 18 MB of Bookmarks in my 7 Profiles.

I don't have any important passwords in my browser (I don't use online banking or shopping).

I'm more worried about being constantly spammed because someone has looked at my Browsing History.

    I suppose that's true overall.

It seems like a lot of people on SevenForums and EightForums multi-boot, though.
