On that note, iSheep will probably never buy a win pho, no matter how good it is. They ARE iSheep. So Apple has little to worry about.

I would bet more than a few apple iSheep switch over. I've come across a few stories of long time apple fanboys switching to Windows because of Windows 8.

I'm trying to imagine what would be so appealing about windows 8 that would turn an apple fan boy. Honestly, a new start screen ui cannot be that much of a draw. An apple fan is drawn more to the fact that it is as much as a status symbol as it is a usable device. And many apple fans are drawn to the actual sleekness of the hardware itself. Except for the surface tablet, ms isn't getting into the hardware business.

Strangely enough, it actually has been the Start Screen and metro styled UI. That's the main thing turned apple fanboys of Windows 8 and Windows Phone both have in common. Shoot, even Steve Wozniak praises the metro UI on his Nokia Lumia 900 as if "Microsoft reincarnated steve jobs." apple fanboys tend to havea portion that are designers of all sorts, and apparently the metro design is fresh, clean, original, and modern to some.

There is also some pretty sleek hardware coming out for Windows 8, and HP is taking the role of apple design copying with their PCs.

Well, I don't believe it for a minute. But then again, apple users are all about the look.

There might be something that, Cokie.

There do seem to be some whacky types enthusing inexplicably wildly over win8.

Be interesting to see what Uncle Tim Cook comes up with.

I don't imagine he will sit idly by while MS does it's biggest ad spend ever.

Unless he thinks he doesn't need to do anything as MS are perfectly capable of shooting themselves in the foot.

The silence surrounding these Windows 8 phone events is remarkably deafening, in comparison to the hysterical response over the iPhone 5
I'm guessing that who ever said the event is " remarkably deafening" didn't really mean that. Standing next to a 707 as the engines rev is deafening...

But Apple has always sold sizzle and when you read someone raving about how much lighter the new phone is (0.85 oz, about the weight of five teaspoons of water.) then you have to wonder if they want a phone or something to show to the crowd.
    Add
"Americans have spent nearly $6 billion on iPhone repairs since Apple first launched the phone in 2007, according to a new study.
    and things get more interesting.

I've read that one of the complaints about the new iphone is in fact that it is too light and you end up dropping it.

    Guess light is too light...

The best win8 mobile can hope to achieve, is "also ran" status. Frankly I'll be surprised if they manage to match the new mozilla os currently being launched. Catching apple or android.... not in this lifetime.
