Blur is just as digitally real as gradients, rectangles, and solid colors.
How can you possibly be reading items on a window when it's behind a 10 pixel taskbar? And why? I'd think you'd have to be clumsy to throw windows around and be a little strange to be trying to read what's on a window, behind a 10 pixel taskbar.
That was sarcasm. I like to have my windows to have light on dark test. When a window goes beneath the fully transparent taskbar, the readability of the text and icons that are on the taskbar is reduced. On the original blurred taskbar, the content beneath the taskbar would blur, so it would not interfere with the actual taskbar content.
The taskbar transparency is decent. Really, I don't shove all of my windows under the taskbar either.

Everyone, Windows 8 is Windows 7 with a new name and look. Plus some add-ons. You can't sit there and tell me that you'd use vista over 8, (like I've heard several say)

Well, it's not the end of the world, but it's definitely worse than a fully opaque taskbar, and also worse than the old taskbar.

Aero has always been "ugly" to me, ever since vista, after my XP days. The metro look should've stayed in WinRT, but it's no big deal. I personally don't mind.

aero was ugly but only ugly - win8 is not only ugly it's very straining to work with the GUI for me. no contrasts colours, all flat, it's hard to get what is content and what is menus etc., all white (eye burn at my big 27" screen). I absolutely hate it and I use it since RTM is released. I really can't believe this is released....

I like the metro idea so much, but it's designed so bad in detail. At the moment I really prepare myself to switch to a (hated) mac, I don't like apple, I like MS, but I can't stand the win8 desktop gui. I really would like to stay with win, if there was just a bit better balanced gui.

no win7 is no option, I like to go forward and only god knows what they do with win9.

Metro, and the Start screen, I can live with.

    The removal of the Vista/Win 7/Win 8 CP eye-candy, I cannot.

My computer, MY MONEY, my choice!

WHY is that so hard to understand?

Honestly, given the choice between Vista and 8 I would pick Vista every time!!!

    You stole my idea.

They could at least leave the original Windows Classic theme, I could live with it.

Might as well use "7 aero" for the classic theme.

Vista when fully patched is a completely solid OS from a technical standpoint. From a UI view, Vista had a few kinks where controls were not directly accessible enough(ex. hard to change screen resolution), but the overall UI is completely solid and really only slightly different from 7.

Vista just has a really, really bad rep because it was released on horribly underpowered machines. Also, Vista home basic with no aero glass--that really hurt the eyes.
