Will testers need to purchase 8 when it launches?

I know it's not a Beta, but with Win7, it carried on working for a long time after launch and was cheap to purchase for the Beta testers.

What happens this time round?

Well, there have been numerous free releases including the RTM trial of enterprise which is free for anybody.

And the upgrade price of $39 is pretty low, especially in comparison to previous versions...so I don't forsee them offering it any cheaper to testers.

People doing extensive testing likely have Technet and are using that.
