Sidd--If you have not already done so, please try the following: Bring you mouse pointer down to the bottom of the picture (the display). Then left click and drag the display to the very top at which time it will disappear.
Frank, I'm not saying this to be a smart @ss or anything, but that screen shot is the "PC Settings" screen not the Lock Screen. Also if he can access the System screen, he must be already logged on. On the RTM versions you don't have to pull it up anymore, all you have to do is click anywhere on it.

After taking a closer look at things, you are not being a smart@ss. I just double checked on my system and you are absolutely correct. I set mine up so that the same display comes up. I then clicked on it and sure enough it took care of it. I though sure that I had to drag it up. Sorry if I misled anyone, but I was wrong. Actually the only other time in my life that I was ever wrong was the one time when I thought I made a mistake but didn’t. That’s what I tell my grandchildren.

Yeah, that drag the screen up thing must have seemed really cool to someone at Microsoft, but in real life I think it just frustrated most people. That's likely why its just a click or tap now. Well on the RTM builds anyway. I auto logon so I never see that screen and can't remember if its swipe or click for the RP build.

I think if you just hit the infamous "any key" or Esc the login screen shows up. By now it's just kinda automatic so I don't think much about what I actually do to get to the login screen.

At any rate, I'm glad you figured it out.

Better that you install the 90-day version of Windows 8 instead. I think you have activated your version with any bad Koreans crack.
Have seen others having the same problem. It's not your windows 8 version is wrong, but most likely what you have activated it with.

Argh, Pirate Bay, that be the problem right there matey. Yes, your better off getting the Release Preview or Enterprise trial. Both are free safe downloads from Microsoft. Your current install may say its activated, but it may not be legally/properly activated.

There's no telling what the pirates may have included as a little "bonus" too. Assuming you do not have access to the full RTM (such as MSDN or TechNet) then you're much better off getting an official evaluation copy from MS and springing for the $40 or so you'll need to upgrade your system later on.

Windows activation is not a once-and-done deal: the system "checks in" every so often to confirm activation, and significant hardware changes could trigger a "phone home" to re-activate.

Nobody's going to have sympathy for you if you tempt fate like that and lose.
