How do you add Windows Media player to Windows 8 consumer review OS?

I have Windows 8 consumer review installed on a dual boot machine with 2 SSD's. I am using a mouse and keyboard. How do I put a quick start icon for Windows Media Player on the desktop, not on the task bar or on the metro screen. Windows Media Player is not currently installed on Windows 8.

I'm running the RTM release of Windows 8 Pro and from Start, I typed in Media and I have Media Player installed.

    64-bit Windows 10

    Hello Rilbet,

You could create a new shortcut on your desktop using the location below for your 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8 to do so.

    64-bit Windows 8
    "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:1

    32-bit Windows 8
    "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:1

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Windows 10 Education 64 Bit

Open the Metro start screen and then just type media. The search function will open as you type, Windows Media Player should show up in the list.

    Search in Windows 8
