    Cannot get into safe mode

My computer lock-up after 2 secs log into windows (due to drivers problem). I need to boot my computer to safe mode directly and use driver sweeper to fix the problem. However, I'm not able to get into safe mode. (F8, Shift+F8) doesn't work neither.

I'm using Windows 8 Pro MSDN version.

If you know the specific driver(s) that are causing the problem, just attach the hdd or sdd to another machine and delete them.

When you get back to Windows after re-attach, delete the corresponding keys to the drivers you deleted, here:

Otherwise, safe mode only exists in dual (or more) boot scenario. You could also add it from regular Windows from the command prompt, but since you can't get to Windows....heh.

I'm sure there is a probably a way to add it using the install DVD or USB, but I don't know it off hand.

If you don't have another machine to attach to, boot to Knoppix to delete.

    Hello David,

In addition to what Kernal posted, you could use OPTION FOUR in the tutorial below to boot into Safe Mode.

You might also consider using the tutorial below to add Safe Mode to your boot menu as well to make it easier to use as needed.

    Hope this helps,

Thx. Actually I found a cheap way to access safe mode.
I put a shortcut to "startup option menu" on desktop so I can click on it quickly before it lock up

Safe Mode in WDP in General Support
For those wondering about safe mode in WDP, there are 2 ways to get into it. 1) For safe mode on next boot (or till you turn it off manually), use the regular msconfig way. In msconfig, click boot tab, check "safe boot" and radio button "minimal". Hit OK. You can restart straight away or later,...
