Is there a new build of Windows 8?

Another post-RTM build number for Windows 8 revealed? - Neowin

This one is a weird one gang! It appears there is a new build version of 9200.20500 and not 9200.16384.

Either it's a big update on day one or it is Windows 9 or Windows 8.5 or Windows Blue?!?!

RTM is showing several bugs and tuning problems on the desktop already (To be expected actually, though some are kind of disturbing). Rather than have a huge number of updates on launch, I can see them cutting newer RTM builds as long as time hasn't run out...

Yes and also hopefully an option of start button and "boot directly to the desktop".

It's normal practice guys, they will issue new build number with every bug fix that's added to the RTM build, the type of fixes that are released as updates through normal channels, it's also usual practice to save one "round" number build some way up the counter to use for the actual Gold release version due in October

I actually like this, as it provides a level of OEM differentiation on a non-hardware basis. Sometimes, the OEMs do come up with useful software.

lol. I used to joke that OEMS would insert some sort of start menu bloatware. I guess I wasn't really wrong.

It's interesting that Samsung has done that. First off, I'll say that's a tad absurd on their behalf as to me, THAT there makes the Desktop feel more like an app. It doesn't when you use the Start Screen AROUND the Desktop, but to do that, yoy!

Maybe more effort should had been spent on making bloatware to educate the user on how to use Windows 8...

I've noticed a bug that has been prevalent in IE 10 Desktop that has been around since the Developer Preview. When you have multiple tabs, usually two or thee when I've seen it happen the most, when you close the outermost tab the remaining ones elongate out. So the size of three tabs stays the same but two tabs occupy that space, then it goes back to normal. To me, that's a showstopper bug that should had been fixed BEFORE the RTM build was signed off on.
