OK I've been using 8 RTM now for a week or so. I have learned the navigation techniques and grouped my tiles and unpinned the ones I don't want. I believe I am now using it as intended.
I can't get over that there is no navigational containment hierarchy short of zooming out from the all apps screen. There is no way to contain and drill down.
What was Microsoft thinking? A flattened hierarchy for organization is not how humans work. I have drawers for tools, food and clothing. I have files for papers. I've got cabinets for dishes. For cryin' out loud fundamentals of my language are based on classifications with hierarchical associations.
I have to lay out all my program icons grouped next to each other on a big screen? How does that help me navigate to what I want to do? I don't get it. Parsing through hundreds of icons looking for words that are difficult to read for programs that I don't remember the name of in groups that I've forgotten the order of is not efficient. Remembering abstract titles or categories and drilling down to what I need is natural and efficient.
Windows 8 will bomb I am afraid.
