The real genius of windows 8 isn’t in the structure of the metro screen; it’s in the potential of the app store or in the Linux world the repository. Linux / unix has been using them system for far longer than anyone else. But it’s the ability to add software with 0 efforts that makes windows 8 more flexible. We can argue into forever about rather or not the metro screen is more efficient, however that isn’t the real power, it’s in the selection of apps people make and rather or not MS can make the available or not that will make or break this. I for one am excited about that possibility. Annoying issues with the screen can be fixed, but the repository can’t be overlooked as just some worthless add on. In the near future gone will be the days of installing software with 6 plus toolbars and the changes to home screen to go with it. Just seamlessly add your software without even a prompt to the next button. That is more efficient and time saving than standard install, not to mention more securely. Because of the controls placed on the app store you won’t be downloading software from potentially dangerous sources like you could before even if you thought it was safe. Viruses will be cut waayyyyyy down there is all kinds of advantages to this no one here is talking about.
I know there are plenty of techies here, including myself that know how to avoid the toolbars, viruses and malware. I have fixed many computers for people who could not. The desktop will be good to us as always but the real power of windows 8 is in the app store potential.
