    I only see two folders on the Start Screen and that just happens to be a folder that must contain the portable Adobe apps....

    If it were me, I'd rather litter the Start Screen rather than litter the Desktop because at least I can get to the littered Start Screen faster and start something than using the Desktop/

I have to admit I'm throwing my support behind Windows 8 but not because metro has any current advantages, it going forward with the new technology. Hopefully we can come up with some more constructive methods of informing MS on how to make it better. Simply saying it sucks shows the lack of thought or use in the system.
    Technically, they're starting to. They're just not combining ios and mac os in one fell swoop like Microsoft is kind of doing. Shoot, in 10 years, I bet mac os will look more like an ipad and the apple fanboys will say it's better than Windows....

    As Slacker said, I don't see the advantage oer the Desktop here. Especialy since you don't see the taskbar, that you don't see the Start Button (or what remains of it or what replaces it, charms etc), that you don't have the Start Menu for items you rarely need but you still need.

    I understand that I was making the point is all. They haven't changed much over the years, and that has its downsides as well, however no need to get into all that but I do understand, but they certainly could have done the same thing.

    Here's the long and short of it. There is no one thing thatis best since everyone has their likes and dislikes. But, this is a gooddiscussion where everyone gives their input as to what they like. Getting backto Jimbo's idea, I do like to use the desktop as I have a way of setting it upthe way I like it. But, Jimbo shared a way that I never thought of and itsounds like a good idea. I may still use the desk top but I will do some re-arrangingthe way he described.

    The trick is to arrange the start screen properly for HOW YOU WORK.
    I have arranged it for HOW I WORK, and It's 1 click for Excel. See below;

    And it's no effort at all to get it setup and working the way I like. Maybe 65 seconds total effort to pin 15 things I use all of the time.

    Now that post made me I think sometimes when people use something long enough, they start finding reasons it works for them, and that's cool we all do that, that's why windows 8 is having this effect that it is. Were all used to how it was and this just doesn't seem enough but there is potential.........

    Heh exactly, and the next time you install a new program it's not going to splatter your task bar with 15 unwanted app icons 13 of which you will never use (cough)Metro(cough)

    Actualy I have the Excell shortcut on my desktop. All it takes is one double click (instead of a single click).
