Being a newbie here and a novice with pc's I know very little...

Having read many threads and posts, I have come to the conclusion that the metro app page has some very mixed feelings, leaning towards a thumbs down.

Was only a couple months back when I was using XP sp3, then baffled with win7 with it's intransitive file handling and ease of use for a complete novice. win8 I feel has taken the bull by it's horns and created a faster, easier, smoother user friendly OS than previous versions, bar windows 3.11.

Take my WiFi used to take up to 2 mins for it to connect, now it's instant. Fact everything is instant. Security features appear better than non windows oem s/w.

I can't make out anything from what you say. Windows 8 is the fastest OS out there right now. Boot time perfect. Tells you how much GB of internet used. Search is the best new feature I like. You don'd need pdf reader and iso burners, they're all included in windows 8. I think it's time to forget about XP and Win7. You've come this far never go back.

P.S. Change your DNS to OpenDNS or Google DNS. The best speed you can ever get

I think he was saying he liked it. :)

But geese... PDF reader is... basic, Win 8 is faster by a small amount, Windows 7 has built in ISO burner. In fact a LOT of Win 8 features that people are touting were actually IN Windows 7 like the search feature. It's /exactly/ the same as the Windows 7 feature, it just looks different in windows 8. No one ever bothered to know or use them in 7 not sure why they are now suddenly "features" of windows 8 :p

So the desktop and underlying OS is incrementally better than 7 as you might expect after 3 years of work on it so... nice but then the UI takes away more features than Win 8's underlying OS added. So it's kind of a draw.

Err yes sorry I have a tendency to shorten sentences so missing out un-necessary words, which unless your 1st language is British English then might find hard to read..

Yes I like it.... But FSeal I am lazy so I rarely switch my laptop off, rather it sleeps, now in 7 and below would take 2+ mins to reload and the WiFi another minute under 8 I have it so even when pc sleeps wifi is still active as such hit the sleep button to PU 3 seconds, splash screen 1 second metro hit space for desktop browse on chrome straight away....

Windows 7 has built in ISO burner.

I think they misspoke. Windows 8 will allow you to mount and ISO without additional software. This was not a feature in Windows 7.
