Bad Jimbo!! You KNOW we can't say Windows 8 Metro anymore!! Saying Metro is BAD!! It's JUST Windows 8 now. LoL And the former portion known as Metro is Windows Start.

    Laughing!!

You realize there are security issues with Gadgets, hence why they've been removed from Windows 8. There is also an advisory from Microsoft to disable them in W7 and Vista.

Let me tell you something. I realize there are older gentleman on here that did wiz stuff in the 70s and maybe even 60s. All awesome to that but I have my own story.

Playing on the C64, loaded Geos, maybe I'm 7 or 8 years old, phone modem at 300 bps, family complaining that the phone was tied up, Q-Link internet provider so I didn't just have to use bbs, cheap tv connected as monitor, found a download and don't even remember the format or file type but I did download it and it took hours.

Can't even tell you how I made it play because I forget. But when I did make it play, it was a low quality but very decent for the times and lasted like 20 seconds max, if that -

    "Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning"

I could not accept or believe what my pc was doing. Amazed is a true understatement.

After that, there was a Led Zeppelin snippet I got and that's the same story.

I found the exact same song snippit from a german BBS site but my download came with a utility to make your own snippets. I plugged in my tape drive from my VIC 20 to my C64 and recorded 20 second snippit from Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. I was freaking out during the whole time and was in awe of what I had done.

Another one that freaked me out was a download called Daisy-Daisy, when you ran it your 3.5" floppy drive would play the Daisy Daisy children song through the internal mechanics. Very freaky.

Were you one of the lucky ones who actually got the TiB 3.5" drive to WORK on a C64?

I gave up on mine years ago, as, I suspect, did most. Weren't cheap, either.....

I do run 2 x 5.25" drives on it, tho.

Impossible!! The ONLY floppy drives back then were the 5.25" drives, that is why I switched to an Osbourne1 after my Vic20. Oh yeah BTW! I still have my 300bps Commodore modem, someone want to buy it?

They came out towards the end of the C64's 'useful' life, around 1992 or 3.

They were a modified PC or Amiga 3.5" drive, from memory, in a case like
the Amiga's external 3.5", wired to connect to the serial port.

They were not a success, there were major controller incompatibilities and
virtually no software was available to take advantage of them.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, OIC. I was to the understanding that they came out just before the 80386sx/dx did, at the end of the 80286 life. And the Vic20 was an 8088, and C64 was an 8086, so strikes me as very weird they had that type of floppy with either of them. I had the Vic20, and it used a cassette tape drive for storage, and programs, and was cartridge based for applications (firmware), and external hardware (Modem & Storage cartridge). And they were slightly bigger than a Betamax tape.
