    RTM is ugly as heck

    Just installed the leaked RTM. No aero glass. Inactive windows are gray. Taskbar is transparent, but there is no blur. I can post screens later, but it's much worse than the RP.

    If any other people here are interested in helping me fix this, and have some skillz, we should try to work this out.

    I just want inactive windows to not look like industrial waste, the taskbar to blur properly, and windows to correctly transparentify.

    So what do you call this "beauty" of a screenshot? A zillion open Windows?

    The problem is so many of the issues are still there. Even though this is already the final version. The scroll bar is ugly as before. close minimize buttons aren't done well. No full screen button. Jarring 3D iconography/graphics against super flat ugliness. This issue probably can never be changed. Unless, the cut off backward compatibility. Old programs and probably even programs today will not want to use completely flat icons to represent their program. They usually at least use 2.5D graphics. Personally I like the metro idea because I appreciate simple design but the execution is severely lacking. It doesn't look simple and clean it just looks like they didn't try.

    This is going to be a disappointment for the optimistic hopefuls. There is no change, or customisation, available for the Metro. Only thing is, by default, there are not so many icons showing, which gives you the option to load it up as you see fit.

    In my case, I also found that ye old Classic menu did not do it's thing automatically, and go through to the legacy desktop. I had to load it manually into the "startup" folder. I am using the Metro as a menu, so it didn't bother me too much - just curiosity.

    Early days, but other than that, no mind blowing changes. I did think it booted up a tad slower.

    I kind of like the look of the RTM Desktop. It's different, almost like the reverse of vista's Desktop. I especially love the window control buttons, ABOUT TIME!!!

    Was that article titled "Cheese makes every recipe a little better." in this screen shot a COINCIDENCE , or intentional?

    No doubt windows 8 has got a lot of "cheese" factor going on with metro.

    @Cokie

    MS clearly want everybody on win8.

    Don't you think it odd they have deliberately chosen to make it divisive - in appearance and functionally.

    Very strange , as they keep talking about the user experience.

    They don't seem to get it at all.

OK, so here's the deal. My dad purchased a brand new 17" Dell laptop (17R) with Core i7, 8GB of RAM... and it came with, of course, Windows 8. So, we purchased an extra Windows 7 HP x64 OEM licence for it. So, I decided to check it (Win8) out before formatting it back to Windows 7. (I'm...
Ugly colors in Customization
Why does MS insist on using overly bright pastel looking colors across all their OS's? Starting with XP on up to Win8 they use pastel bright colors that in my opinion are not pleasing to the eyes. It's like they let the grade school girls design the color scheme. Why can't they find a line...
