Additionally, the window borders also look softer somehow in release preview. Did Microsoft do this because it is faster to render square windows? No alpha channel to blend. Windows 8 is supposed to run on tablets with arm SoCs.

I wonder if I can use the aero.msstyles from RP, until skins appear.

Already tried. It's a no go. I opened the file from RP and RTM with reshack. The number of images does not match.

(My friend that sat next to me reluctantly agreed with me )
    I know that feeling!

Windows 8 = Windows Vista. Some will like it, but many will detest it. No way around it.

I think I'll just wait for Windows 9.

Really? You could install 7 without a product key. You would just get "windows is not genuine" instantly, but you would still be able to use the system.

Well I am using it now... didn't need any key but it does say windows is not activated.
Not really blown away with it, it just looks unfinished. I liked the RP better.

    Hi there
did you read my post -- Windows 8 ENTERPRISE doesn't prompt or need a key but are you really installing Windows 8 PRO

If so please post screenshot after the installation or or we really going back to the "Land of the Trolls".

W8 Pro hasn't yet appeared on any of the usual places yet -- and believe me -- I KNOW about this sort of stuff.

    Cheers

Ok so I'll cut straight to the stuff that matters: When I turn the PC on, I boot to the Windows 8 Login screen and I see a message every cold boot that says something to the effect of "Wrong DVI Cable Connected. Please Connect the cable that came with your monitor" and the stuff on the screen...

OK, so here's the deal. My dad purchased a brand new 17" Dell laptop (17R) with Core i7, 8GB of RAM... and it came with, of course, Windows 8. So, we purchased an extra Windows 7 HP x64 OEM licence for it. So, I decided to check it (Win8) out before formatting it back to Windows 7. (I'm...
Ugly colors in Customization
Why does MS insist on using overly bright pastel looking colors across all their OS's? Starting with XP on up to Win8 they use pastel bright colors that in my opinion are not pleasing to the eyes. It's like they let the grade school girls design the color scheme. Why can't they find a line...
