SSD/Win8

I bought an Intel 330 series 60G SSD and put win8 on it. Wow that thing boots incredibly fast. It was pretty quick on a standard 7200 platter drive, but on SSD it's even quicker. My work laptops older INtel X25-m SSD feels slower compared to this latest drive.
I just wish newer drivers for usb 802.11n were more readily available.

Yeah. I slapped a windows 8 ssd into my laptop. It's logged in less than 5 seconds after the boot logo shows up. The bios actually takes longer than the booting.

It takes Windows 7 about 15 sec to boot from my X25-M SSD. I boot a handful of times a month on average. Speed improvements here just don't matter. What would make a small but appreciated difference would be to improve the resume time from sleep. It takes about 10 seconds for Windows 7 to become completely responsive after resuming from sleep. It's strange. Usually, but not always, the screen comes back instantly; a minority of the time, it stays black through the 10 seconds of limbo. When it comes back instantly, I can usually type my password, but there's still a 10 second delay before I get to use my computer. I'm guessing Windows is waiting for the hard drives to spin up, which seems quite unnecessary, as they are just data drives that aren't in use. Does Windows 8 improve on this situation, where there is an SSD boot drive and data hard drives?

I think the x25-m feels slower because my work laptop has a huge number of programs at startup and it's encrypted.

I don't have a huge number of startup programs, but my X25-M is entirely Truecrypted and always has been. Encryption shouldn't cause a speed hit unless your CPU is relatively slow. I have an i5 750 (4 cores, 2.8 GHz, no AES instructions), and the SSD is very, very fast.

Yea, the cpu is Intel t7300 2Ghz. I cannot multitask without it taking a hit in the cpu. I'm sure if this work laptop were using a traditional drive it would be slow as hell.
