"Automatically go to the Desktop" feature available in Windows 8 RTM!

If that were coupled with a "Enable the start menu" and "disable the charms bar" then we would be talking awesome!

I can tell it's a serious blog by statements like:
[h=2]Windows 8 is incredibly stable and fast, it’s far better than Windows 7 in all ways[/h]
This actually is what You call a Major change. The Address bar looks more white and clutter free.

What contributes to the hilarity of the first statement quoted, the major conclusion of the article, is that everything else on the page concerns cosmetic changes.

That would be too convenient but unfortunately they have purposefully ruined this Op system for use on a desktop.

At least we have the option of booting to the desktop again but I'm wondering what this means.

Would you like to automatically go to the desktop when you log into this computer?

Then it says,... You can alter this by right clicking the start button. What start button are they referring too?

Probably referring to the win-x hot corner. Either that, or they added the start button back[unlikely].

I think this blog post may be BS. I cannot imagine someone reputable that has access to the RTM wouldnt have leaked this already. Hope I am wrong though as I would love Win 8 to have default option to bypass Metro and re-add a start button without third party tools.

Looks like they updated it to include this statement.

UPDATE : Start button referred here is the Hot corner in the left bottom of Windows 8 Screen. Note that this is a screen-shot from a build that is not the final one and the language will probably change to make it clear.

Although I'm having a hard time believing that the entire article isn't true because of this part.

New screenshots have appeared of the Windows 8 RTM branch, courtesy of WinUnleaked, that reveal some last-minute changes and additions made by the Windows team.

I guess we will have to wait and see what the actual truth is.

OMG, I hate the desktop. It makes me feel like I am using old technology. When I see it, it feels like its 1995 (windows 95) and I am 17 again. With windows 8, we should have been able to access everything only from Metro. We are forced to use the desktop even in 2012...

If you only have simple needs, you may be able what you want from a phone gui, like Metro - that's fine, just don't bother going to the main UI.

For the rest of us, Metro is an annoying skin getting in the way.

If they done something about that in the rtm , it will be a good thing

I don't know I only first used win8 on my laptop and now on my main desktop with my dual monitor and I can easily see adapting to metro and taking care of any productivity issues. You can access everything still anyway. Most developers use the keyboard to a great degree so it would only be a matter of setup to get everything the way you would like it like since they would have to do that with any new setup/install anyway. Once out of the way you wouldn't need to reconfigure anything. I'd also imagine 3rd party devices will make for touch or kinect like devices to make using the metro even more fluid.

It makes sense that Microsoft would give you the ability to go to the desktop, otherwise Windows 7 would be the next Windows XP. Meaning that people will not upgrade from having the desktop, start button, and menu with all options. When I showed the Windows RP O/S (default configuration) at a local Walmart's computer department, the overall consensus was
I don't like this.
Walmart is one of the biggest distributors of computer products currently in North America in the mass market type retailers.

Yes , I am not surprised.

A very significant number will not like it.

To prevent a complete rout, MS need to pull the stops out - one way is to charge such a low price , folk will buy it just because it is a bargain.

Another way is to do something so people don't have to put up with all that metro weirdness on a non tablet.
