So I have found myself more addicted to my laptop since I installed win 8 on it. Everything I read in the past about win 8 being more for touch screens I was like well I'm not going to upgrade my pc then but now that I have it i'm actually really liking it.

I like the whole metro side of win 8, I mean it really has me thinking. If I can have the same on all my devices I just may dump my Iphone and ipad. I'm assuming the apps on the desktop will be the same for the win 8 phone right? If that is the case, see you later apple I never cared for you much any way...

I have to be honest I don't like switching back to the desktop, I'm sure the desktop will be gone by win 9 or 10 once win eight takes off and third party software goes to the metro side.

One last thing I like to note is if Microsoft promotes win 8 for the phone, tablet and pc all together instead of saying win eight is for touch screens they blow this thru the roof!

Very much a big YES! The new and also disappointing to some feature of Windows Phone 8 is that it has a shared core with Windows, probably obviously WinRT code.

What that enables is an awesome plethora of options, games, and apps. Unlike ios, where the OS doesn't take full advantage of the device, the new WinRT apps will. An app built for Windows 8 will have a ridiculously easy port over to Windows Phone 8. WP 8 doesn't have a Charms bar, but it will have UI elements to interact with settings and such. That's what I really like about the new metro ecosystem Microsoft is building. It offers a very consistent user experience, but takes advantage of the devices capabilities. An app on Windows Phone 8 takes advantage of the screen size how the user interacts with, meaning the little ... icon for more and swiping left and right to navigate through the apps. That same app can be on Windows 8, but takes advantage of the Charms bar for search, sharing, and settings. Since a tablet PC has more screen estate, more can be shown. And to navigate through the content, it's a simple scroll.

Basically, get rid of the iphone and ipad!

I find it OK to switch between Desktop and Start Screen. It kind of makes me think of the jump list in Windows Phone, where shows a whole screen of little tiles with a letter on it to jump to that section of file names.

You know, I think that could be potentially a good marketing strategy for Windows Phone 8. Power of the PC in your hands? I don't know, some might think that wouldn't be good because of the Windows name, but that's blasphemy. If they can promote the ecosystem of the metro design, where a Windows Phone 8 goes hand in hand with a Windows 8 tablet PC and even go hand in hand the current updated Xbox and the new one next year, that could be a HUGE hit as well.

Actually looking forward to dumping my iPhone for wp 8! I like how they will share the same ui. And I don't like apples restrictions. Hopefully there will be a phone that stacks up to the iPhone.

The Nokia Lumia 900 already does! :geek:

Believe me, the new Windows Phone 8 handsets, like potentially the Nokia PureView phones, ANNIHILATES the iphone. Just BOOM.

Was it the Nokia Lumia 900 that blew you away?

What blew me away was windows 8 on the phone, the look and the way it operated and then bringing that same ui to the desktop. Awesome! But since I have been looking into the phones, the 900 looks pretty good.
