Cannot unhide my music stuck.

Been stuck trying to retrieve my music Library from external drive for the last 3 days. I know it's all there but cannot unhide any of the mp3's. Tried everything I could think of. Hoping for some help from anyone at this point. Thank you

I've tried running antivirus software, changing folder options, and taking ownership of folder with no luck. Looked for solutions on this forum but haven't found any that have worked for me.

I would first try to use Kyhi's Bootable Rescue Disk. It's like a live version of Windows. Download the ISO file and extract it to a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD. Boot from the flash drive or DVD and see if you can retrieve your files. If you are going use a flash drive, it has to be made bootable before you extract the files to it.

If that does not work try using a live version of Linux. I like Linux Mint because it very similar to Windows 7. Ubuntu is also very popular. I followed these directions to make mine.

I'll give this a try. Seems a little complicated, see if I can get this to work.

I'm having trouble understanding how to make the bootable recovery from usb.

Ok. So I got the Windows bootable rescue disc to work off of usb but was still unable to see the music files.
Maybe someone can help me through this from scratch. I'm using Windows 8.1 on a Dell inspiron.
Transferred my music library from an external drive to the desk to and saw the mp3's being transferred but can't see them.

Problem solved. Somehow an extra folder containing everything was created within the main folder. Now to restore it back to how it was.
