Why is my HP ENVY Notebook not loading?

Hello!
I'm sending this message from a different computer because my main computer is unable to go past the HP loading screen. I went on vacation for a week after finals (thank God that's over) and returned to a non-working computer. I can't fix it because it doesn't even load to the log in screen. It shows the circle loading but it doesn't go past that and the screen after a while just emits some light in a dark gray color looking screen. What may have caused this? Family claims they didn't use the computer at all. What can I do to fix it? I always try to fix the computers myself but never encountered anything like this.

Have you got an install dvd to boot from and try a repair? can you get to the bios and does it show correct time/date if you can

I can access the BIOS and it does show the correct time/date but I don't have a DVD to boot it from.

If you turn it off then turn back on and keep tapping f11 do you get recovery option?

I ran a System Extensive Test since the F11 option doesn't give me a recovery option and it says Failure ID in red and says Hard Drive 1 failed. Does this mean the hard drive is no longer working?

It would look that the drive is dead you could try pushing it in tight in case its just come loose if you go on the makers site of the hd they often have a bootable disk to test their HD just to confirm its dead this report is often needed if its under warrenty as a lot have a few years warrenty

Well, there is no choice than changing the drive. Open your drive and try to connect it with another laptop.
