Add “History” button/link/tab for quick access?

I’m on Win8.1 Pro (x64) and I use OldNewExplorer to replace the File Explorer ribbon with the Windows 7-syle command bar. I’ve also used Winaero’s Explorer Toolbar Editor to add a couple useful buttons to the command bar (“Copy as path” and “Hide selected items”). But one Win7-era option I really want to add back is the ability to quickly view a file’s historical versions.

As it is, there are three ways for me to access a file’s previous versions:

  • Reverting back to the ribbon (not an option for me) to get the Home tab → “History” button;
  • Manually launching File History and navigating to the file in question; or
  • Enabling System Protection and using “\\localhost\C$” to re-add the “Previous Versions” properties tab and “Restore previous versions” context menu link to files (which you still have to navigate to).
None of these are as quick to access as I’d like. So I’m asking if either of the following is possible:

  1. Is there a tweak or a utility that allows you to add a working “History” button to the command bar that does the same as the one in the ribbon? (This would be ideal. Explorer Toolbar Editor has the option to add a “History” button, but it sadly doesn’t show up on the command bar.)

    Or, failing that,
    .
  2. Is there a tweak or a utility that allows you to re-add either (or both) the “Previous Versions” properties tab or the “Restore previous versions” context menu link to all files, not just those accessed using “\\localhost\C$”?
Big thanks to anyone who replies.
