This just happened like late July, I just got Elgato game capture HD, the sound was disabled on my computer as well and later the cursor wouldn't move. The sound was easy to fix, but the trackpad was not easy to fix at all. This happened a year ago too and March 2013. Anyways, I want to know how I can get my trackpad working like a charm again. I hope this solve my problem with the cursor. If I run out of options, the only thing left to do is sacrificing my account. I run Windows 8.1 by the way. Please give me some suggestions as soon as possible.

Can you plug in a USB mouse just for the time being?

IF you can, go to your mouse settings and look to see if there is an option to disable the trackpad. Many laptops have this option, and also have an option to auto-disable the trackpad when a USB mouse is connected.
