    File Access Permssions

    Hi guys

I've found a myriad of programs to restrict processes and a myriad of ways to hide/protect files or restrict users from files but I want to attempt something more intuitive/clever.

Does anybody know of a way to make a specific file invisible or inaccesible to ALL processes except for the specific process that created/last saved it?

    Thanks and regards, Terry

In my opinion, that will become one of the fastest ways to reach for your Windows install DVD or your OS partition full image made before such attempts have been made. I know Callender of sevenforums has one of the most powerful protected computers known on The 'Net. I have tried a few things that Callender has successfully done. I know Callender through The 'Net, Callender is a 'Net friend of mine, I know that I Roland am no Callender -- hence I'm glad to have had on hand restorable backups. In short, unless you are a powerful Callender, I would be very very careful in treading further into your OS and program operations -- have your restorable OS partition full images at the ready.

I guess I'll just stick with encypting/hiding/decrypting/revealing the file then when I need it.

I think it'd be an interesting approach though, from a security point of view. Although I can see why Windows and AV products wouldn't like it.

Cool, man, cool! Just keep your OS partition full images current and restorable and you should be just fine

That is not possible. Permissions are based on the account accessing a resource, not the application. Application specific permissions have been suggested in the past but were rejected. It would be difficult to implement, create many problems, and open up new opportunities for malicious use.

Many features seem like a good idea at first but become a serious problem when the implications are considered.
