Resetting laptop

I am working on a laptop for a friends grand daughter. I had to replace the screen. Here is where my problem begins. The grand daughter can only remember 1 password and that's not the right one. I figured I could do a reset which I understand will take it back to when it was purchased (out of box). I can then create an Admin account for grandma and a user account for the grand daughter.

Can you do a reset without logging in with Admin privileges? If not I guess my only other option is to do a clean install 8, right?
