Can't boot Windows 8 because of update issue

Hi, I'm new to the forums.

So, a few weeks after restoring to factory settings, my lenovo ideapad p400 gave me the infamous "failure to configure updates, reverting changes" error (one of the reasons for the restoration) this morning.

Last time windows did that to me it took 2 hours for it to leave that screen and finally boot. So I just left the computer on and took off for work.

When I came back home for lunch, the computer was still on that screen. Which means it had been there for the last 4 hours. I tried safe mode, but apparently Windows 8 doesn't let you easily access safe mode anymore.

I tried BIOS, which only gives me two booting options called Legacy Support and UEFI. UEFI still doesn't boot but opens the "failure to configure updates, reverting changes" screen.

I am again at work, left the laptop on at home with the "reverting changes, do not turn off your computer" screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

8 to 8.1 or 8.1 to 10

No, it's actually running a standard update of windows 8, which it says is necessary to later upgrade to windows 8.1.

I don't know how to find out specifically which update is causing the problem, but it's not about moving from one OS version to another.

Download the Windows 8.1 Setup Media - and just run the Setup.exe to Upgrade from 8 to 8.1
OR
Boot from the Setup Media and Clean Install Windows 8.1 OS

It will read and use the windows 8 product key automatically
