Solved Touchpad Driver for DELL

Hi,
I have installed Windows 8.1 x32 on my computer. I have:
DELL Inspiron 15 3542
Service tag: G42K312
DELL doesn't support x32 Windows 8.1, so please guide me on how can I use my touchpad. I need only touchpad.
P.S. I don't want to change to x64.

I'm sitting here with my 11 yr OLD Dell Latitude, ON, and running Windows 8.1/Pro/32, and when I installed 8.1 on it, the driver for the Touch Pad was automatically installed. NO Problemo! Likewise on my other seven laptops, where three of them are Dells, of varying model and age.

The driver pack that comes with Windows 8.1 Pro, is truly amazing. It even installs workable drivers for my Epson XP-410 printer *, and my PCIe USB 3.0 card.
* (if it's connected and turned ON during the install)

So I'm wondering about that 8.1/Enterprise version of Windows. Did that come from MS or a 3rd party?
Is it even possible, in your BIOS, to turn off the Touch Pad. I've never seen that, but anything is possible.
I know that some PC's even have a switch above the Touch Pad that will disable the Touch Pad.

Were that laptop one of mine, I might even try a RE-Install of 8.1, after backing up my current install, just to see if that would fix the problem.

In the not so distant past, I've installed Windows 8.1 and had something like the time zone, get really screwed up during the install, and only a re-install would fix that problem.

Hi,
I assume that your touchpad is Synaptics - if that is correct try to install the generic driver from Synaptics. Here`s the link: Software Drivers | White Papers | Videos | Synaptics

Dell supports Win 8.1 64 bit on this machine and even has the touchpad driver.

You say you don't want 64 bit but that may be needed to get everything working properly.
