How to turn off the automatic slideshow?

Hi, I have Windows 8.1 and notice when I leave my computer for a while, it plays a slideshow using images in my "My Pictures" folder. Here is a video of it:

Clicking the mouse will show one of 2 things:

1) A purple background with my Account name, which then auto-logins and takes me to the desktop, or

2) A screen that is either black or shows my webcam, with an unlock buttom on the bottom left which takes me to the desktop (sometimes it freezes though and I have to power the laptop off/on): https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-...57NRdRgCCo/s2048-Ic42/IMG_20160315_173220.jpg

Anyone know how to turn this slideshow off? I would prefer my computer to stay on the desktop.

Thanks

My first thought would be that you have your Screen Saver turned on.
That is not only UN-necessary on our modern screens, but it can be very disruptive to some running programs.
So, just turn it OFF.

How to:
Right Click on your Desktop, then click "Personalize" and in the lower Rt corner of the window, is your screen saver. Click on that to open the options and set it to NONE. Apply and OK.

On my own 8.1 PC, I'm seeing that if I select 'Photos' as my screen saver, and then click on 'Settings', I can select the location of the Photos that I want displayed, and so forth. I would never, ever do that, on my own PC, so I had to do some digging into strange territory, so to speak.

I hope this helps you. Let us know.

Cheers mate!

Thank you, this does not appear to be the issue. I am attaching an image to show what I see:

Hmmm!
I can only wonder, if it's something in your current 'Theme'. ???

How about downloading a new theme from MS....the option is right there on that screen you showed.

I've downloaded a bunch of them and most are really beautiful! And even within a theme with eight or ten panels, you can de-select any that you don't like.

But, with every new theme, you'll still have to go into the Screen Saver and shut it OFF if you don't want it kicking in and interfering with your work.

Just a thought.

Good Luck,

PS: You even have two other Themes in that screen shot..... have you tried either one of them? Try it!
