IE update KB3139929 causes computer to freeze

    Hello,

Has there been any other issue like this?

    11.0.9600.18231
    11.0.29 (KB3139929)
...appears to cause computer to freeze when IE visits some sites. Hard reboot is required.
That I know of, it happens on Netflix, EpixHD, HBOGO and trying to log into some premium movie sites.
Not sure what they have in common. Perhaps it's some type of Flash?

I have computers with 11.0.28 and lower and they are fine.
2 computers I updated to 11.0.29 experience this crash problem.

I wasn't able to fix it by uninstalling the update or turning off and on IE feature.
In one computer I tried to reinstall OS but IE still crashes computer.

    Any suggestions?

I had the recent Cumulative IE11 Update installed for a couple of days then uninstalled upon finding out it also included some W-10 BS but I can't say it caused any issues cause I had it for just a couple of days. It is still installed on my laptop but I don't use it much so I can't really say about problems with that one.

Interesting though, you mentioned you are on version 11.0.28 but it was version 11.0.29 that has the problem. Both my PC's are on version 11.0.96.

There's a "version" and an "update version". I think the 9600 one for tracking within the company. The second number is the one is the one we get I suppose.

I think you are correct. In that case, my primary PC which I removed the recent update is currently on 11.0.28 but my laptop which has the Cumulative update installed is on 11.0.29 but I have not seen any issues on the laptop this afternoon.

Could be hardware dependent. I did have another issue with IE a while back on a different computer. It would crash after a few minutes of playing Youtube video, irrc. I thought it was the video drivers but I rolled back drivers with no success. Then after a while using Chrome I decided to try IE again and it worked! I should've learned my lesson and unchecked the auto IE update. Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

    Update on problem:

I updated one of the crashing computers to IE version 11.0.30 and it worked.
BUT...upon checking another identical computer with 11.0.29, it ALSO worked!

The only conclusion I have on this is that perhaps update 11.0.29 broke some function specific to some TV provider logon screens for a certain set of hardware. The TV provider (Verizon FIOS and Netflix in this case) fixed their login page after 11.0.29 broke it. Although I don't know when it started working because since the discovery of this crashing issue, I have been avoiding those sites until now...since 11.0.30 was available.
