If I remember correctly (I have not used IE for many years) the default home page is MSN.com - Hotmail, Outlook, Skype, Bing, Latest News, Photos & Videos this should automatically set itself to your nearest geographical seting US, GB, DE, etc.

What I would do is enter MSN.com - Hotmail, Outlook, Skype, Bing, Latest News, Photos & Videos into the bar and then copy and paste the actual URL from the Page into the homepage option in Settings

Edit

The forum is converting the actual URL to the text above lets see if this works
Code:
http://www.msn.com
or you could just click on one of the links above

Thanks Barman for your quick reply. I've tried all the ways I can think of to enter and open msn.com. All I get is About.TABS. that is,
1. erased "google" and entered msn.com in its place then clicked ENTER then "use new tabs"
2. then tried pressing enter after google, and entered msn.com on a new line
3. then tried tried clicking "enter current" and "enter default" neither worked.

So, when I get to the step when I am to enter msn.com, what do I do next?

Thanks again for your help and attention.

Once you have the MSN page on screen you should copy the actual local URL shown, then go into into internet settings and past that URL into the space for HomePage - the more specific the URL pasted the more fixed the actual homepage will be. If, for example you places the basic [NoParse]msn.com[/NoParse] into the HomePage location on a laptop the actual page shown would vary dependent on which country or Or region you were in

What I enter seems not to be the problem. I tried it again with your suggestion and the same thing happens. I get about:TABS. I believe the issues are when I am at the point of entering whatever on the home page space, that is:
1. do I hit ENTER to open a new line and paste in the new URL or
2. erase what's there already (google) then press/don't press ENTER before pasting in the new URL
3. In either event, which option below do I click: "use default" "Use current" or "Use new"?

There are lots of permutations possible and I've tried many, perhaps not all.

Sorry to be taking so much of your time, but apparently I need step by step instructions If you could. In any event I do very much appreciate your timely help.
