I seem to have blundered into reaching the last step in windows 10 upgrade. The files have been downloaded and the installation is hours away. It is scheduled for the middle of the night so I may not be awake when the final reschedule option appears. Moreover, I have a family crisis nd need to delay the install for a couple of weeks. The reschedule options only go up to 72 hours. Any help out there?

Just one question:

Why is your computer ON in the middle of the night, if you're not there to monitor what it does?
It's a freakin' APPLIANCE, and appliances should be OFF when not in use!

Only some Servers, were ever designed to run 24x7. The home PC is not now, or ever has been, designed to be left run 24x7.

If your PC is turned OFF, it cannot install Windows 10, , , and why would you want it to anyway?

I'm sorry, that was actually two questions.

Cheers Mate!

holier than thou

TechnoMage,

Pretty offensive reply. Has it occurred to you that perhaps you're not so smart or I so dumb? For starters, wiseguy, I was not up in he middle of the night. I am in Rome (which you may not know is in Italy). The time here when the installation was scheduled was eleven o'clock p.m. and I was watching a movie on-line. I set power options on my laptop to sleep if not in use for more than 20 minutes. I do not shut down overnight - which is seven hours later than in the middle west where it was therefore late afternoon and evening - for damned good reasons which are none of you business.

I would be less put off by you if you had at least answered my question. Instead, your only reason for writing was to make ignorant, uniformed and presumptuous attacks. Grow up son - even if your 90 - and acquire a level of civility and humility to recognize that others may have reasons for what they do that you are unaware of. Your mouthing off proves you are not "techno" and certainly not a "mage".

I know there is a way to deal with your issue in one or more of the Tutorials on this forum. Look for Tutorials in the banner at the top of the page. I will be looking as well. Although not the best option but you could let W-10 install and NOT Accept the Service/User/EULA Agreement at it will not complete the process or at least that is my understanding. Then there is always the option to let W-10 complete then immediately use the built-in feature to revert back to your earlier OS although it would be best to stop the process before it starts. Check the tutorials. If I find what I am looking for I will get back.

EDIT:
Check out this thread. I think there is something there you can use.
