Could not find recovery environment - Windows 8.1 HP Elite

    Good Morning,

This is my first ever post on this Forum after trying to follow a solved solution which I couldn't complete.

As the title mentions I am unable to restore my HP Elitepad - I seem to get " Could not find recovery environment". I have followed a previous thread but I just cant to seem to resolve this issue.

    The steps I followed were (this was kindly provided by Topguncp);

    1. diskpart
    2. select disk 0
    3. select partition 1
    4. assign letter=R
    5. exit
    6. reagentc.exe /setreimage /path R:\Recovery\WindowsRE /target C:\windows
    7. Try create a recovery disk to see if it works

I have followed this and item 6 is where I think things go wrong? Where should I write/insert item 6? is this carried out in diskpart? I tried this and a screen shows some detailed information. I then reboot, and try a recovery and it comes up with the same error.

Any ideas or advice for a computer novice would be greatly appreciated. I haven't provided any screen shots as I am unsure what information is relevant although happy to provide.

    Thank you for looking

    Regards,

    GC1

Just for grins and giggles, I tried that series of commands, and when I got to the last command, I got a message that I'd have to run that from an Elevated Command Prompt. Hmmmm! It took me a few moments of head scratching to remember how to do that.

I opened up Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and then clicked "File" in the upper left corner, and then "Run New Task".
Then at the new window, I typed in "CMD" and checked the box that said "Create this task with Administrative Privileges", and clicked "OK".
Then I was able to execute the command "reagentc /info", from an elevated Command Prompt.

As so often happens, , , the devil is in the details.

I've saved that list of commands for future reference, along with a note to myself, to run those commands from an Elevated Command Prompt.

    Thank you, KYHI

    Hi KYHI,

I followed each of the items line by line followed by enter. The command "exit" closes diskpart(?), I reopened it and then typed in the last command "reagentc /info" which returned the screenshot?

Have I done this wrong - sorry I am a complete novice at this.

TechnoMage: You have totally lost me, do I need to do any of this?

    Thanks again,

System can not find winRE so we have to tell the system where it is >

    Code:
    Reagentc /setreimage /path \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition1\Recovery\WindowsRE\ /Target C:\Windows
    then
    reagentc /enable
